Horses

Horses are wonderful subjects to paint. Their prescence and their eye, so much character. 

A challenge, but a feeling of real achievement when done.

This lovely study of a Mare and her Foal was a major piece in a 2009 exhibition called "Free Spirits" which focused entirely on horses -

their nature, their power, and the sense of freedom expressed as they gallop or cavort together.

The study was created from photos supplied by Kay Hood of Hedwood Thoroughbreds in Christchurch.
